Wild Rose Fire District

About Us

A Volunteer Tradition Committed to Community Safety

Proudly Serving Wild Rose Since 1904

The Wild Rose Area Fire District was established in 1904 as the Village of Wild Rose Fire Department. Initially, it covered only the Village, which consisted of approximately one square mile. Over the years, our coverage has expanded to 75 square miles, and we became a Fire District in 2001.

Our organization is a volunteer-based entity comprising 40 active members and 26 life members. Additionally, we initiated a Cadet Program in 1983 to provide the youth in our community with an opportunity to explore a career in the fire service. Many of these cadets have become active members of our organization or have continued their careers in other fire and rescue services.

We are a rural, fully volunteer fire department located in central Wisconsin, approximately 45 miles west of Appleton, Wisconsin.

Protecting Wild Rose and Beyond

Year-Round Safety for Residents, Schools, and Visitors

We are responsible for protecting two large public schools with approximately 850 students, a 40-bed assisted living facility, a 20-room retirement home, a 28-bed critical access community hospital, a medical clinic, and a commercial foundry.

The Wild Rose Area Fire District serves over 2,300 permanent residents. During the summer recreational season, this number can grow to well over 8,000 residents due to the presence of two large campgrounds and one religious camp. Our district also includes 3 recreational lakes, with several more in our mutual aid areas. Winter recreation activities such as snowmobiling, ice fishing, and skiing further increase non-resident recreational use.

We’re proud to serve as the county’s official HazMat response team! With highly trained members—certified at operations and technician levels—we’re ready to handle hazardous materials safely and effectively.
